This is multi-day class/ camp to learn all about riding a horse. This class is specifically for learners ages 4-8, for older ages please see my other listing for this class for ages 9-14. We will meet ONCE a week for 4 weeks. This is the second part of my summer camp! In this class, the students will get to meet my horse in a real life experience! Students will learn the basics about what it takes to ride a horse. All students will engage with the teacher and with the horse on why they desire to ride a horse, what kind of riding they want to do, and what they learned from the topics we covered. In the beginning of the class, we will have a short discussion, then we will cover the basics for that day on grooming, saddling, and riding a horse with slides, games, and video clips. At the end of each class, students will engage and reflect on what they learned with me and my real horse to help me groom and feed the horse. Students do not need to have any prior knowledge, but a desire to learn about horses. The courses are as follows: Week 1: Importance on grooming before riding Week 2: What kind of saddle do I use? Week 3: Safety riding your horse, how to make your horse go and stop Week 4: Different gaits of horses and how to stay on! Teacher expertise and credentials
I have ridden horses since I was 8 years old, and have owned horses since I was 10. I have ridden both English & Western and attended many different types of shows with horses, including 4H, drill team, driving, rodeos, and I have even ridden with cattle for sporting events and driving on a ranch in Wyoming. I have also volunteered and completed an internship with a therapeutic horseback riding for children and adults with special needs / veterans. Horses are my passion, and one day I play to teach riding lessons when I get the perfect children's horse.
