Class Experience

This is an ongoing class that will meet weekly. We will take a deep dive into each planet in our solar system. We will also look at our sun and different aspects of the solar system. Students are welcome to join us each week or for only the planets or topics they like.

Here is a breakdown of the schedule:
Week of May 4th: The Sun
Week of May 11th: Mercury
Week of May 18th: Venus
Week of May 25th: Earth
Week of June 1st: Mars
Week of June 8th: Jupiter
Week of June 15th: Saturn
Week of June 22nd: Uranus
Week of June 29th: Neptune
Week of July 6th: Kuiper Belt/ Oort Cloud

Additional topics we could cover would be exoplanets, black holes, a discussion on the different types of stars. I will provide the students will the topic for each week so they can decide if they want to attend or not. Students will be expected to come to class with a curious mind and a desire to learn more about the universe and our place in the cosmos. I like to keep my classes smaller so students can interact with each other more. I love to hear what the students are thinking whether it is a fun fact or a question about the material. Each week we will meet and discuss the current planet or topic. My only rule in class is that we are all respectful of each other.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to discuss more in-depth the different aspects of our solar system.

Hello!

UPDATE: I am taking a break from Outschool. After the spring semester of 2024 ends, I will take a hiatus.

I offer a variety of science and math classes. I have close to ten years of teaching experience. I've worked with students of all ages including young adults. I experience teaching in the classroom and teaching virtually. I have a B.A. from Louisiana State University.

I've helped tutoring student reach their goals whether it's to pass a standardized test or get a passing grade in a course.

I think that a basic understanding of science enhances one's life. It opens up a world hidden to most people. Studying science and math helps children to develop critical thinking skills that can be applied to all areas of life. My goal in all my classes is to inspire the students to study science. I want them to always ask questions and to stay curious.

Please reach out to me if you don't see a time that works for your child. I will try to be accommodating if it is possible.

When I am not teaching or prepping for classes, I enjoy crafting, reading, working out, and spending time with my dog.

"If you are scientifically literate the world looks very different to you. And that understanding empowers you." -Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson
