This is a one time class where students will learn about the sun. We will discuss the different layers/parts of the sun, and what happens in them. We will discuss sunspots and solar flares. I will present the material for part of the class, and then spend time reviewing and asking questions. If possible, we will play games to review the material. I like to utilize tools like Quizlet and Kahoot so the students can check their understanding outside of the classroom. Students will have opportunities to share or ask questions. I try to create a classroom where all students feel welcomed.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to identify the different parts of the sun. They will also be able to discuss what happens inside the sun and identify what it is made from.

Hello!
UPDATE: I am taking a break from Outschool. After the spring semester of 2024 ends, I will take a hiatus.
I offer a variety of science and math classes. I have close to ten years of teaching experience. I've worked with students of all ages including young adults. I experience teaching in the classroom and teaching virtually. I have a B.A. from Louisiana State University.
I've helped tutoring student reach their goals whether it's to pass a standardized test or get a passing grade in a course.
I think that a basic understanding of science enhances one's life. It opens up a world hidden to most people. Studying science and math helps children to develop critical thinking skills that can be applied to all areas of life. My goal in all my classes is to inspire the students to study science. I want them to always ask questions and to stay curious.

When I am not teaching or prepping for classes, I enjoy crafting, reading, working out, and spending time with my dog.
