Beginner Level
In this course, students will learn the basics of solving word problems using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Students do not need previous experience with word problems, but should at least be familiar with the four math operations. Each week, students will be provided with a Nearpod activity that will include lecture videos and interactive activities. Students will also be provided about 10 word problems to solve each week. At the end of each week, students will find real-world examples of that week's math operation and write a word problem about it. In the final week, students will share their word problems with each other and the teacher will assign the problems so that they can solve each other's word problems. The plan for the class will be as follows: Week 1: Addition Word Problems Week 2: Subtraction Word Problems Week 3: Multiplication Word Problems Week 4: Division Word Problems Week 5: All Four Operations -- Using Keywords to Identify Which Operation to Use Week 6: Group Work -- Solving Each Other's Word Problems

I am a nuclear engineering graduate from South Carolina State University with a Bachelor's in Science. I began graduate school for a PhD in Nuclear Engineering, but due to health issues I decided to leave school and pursue my passions elsewhere--like here!
Thus, it may go without saying that a lot of classes I offer are math and science (particularly nuclear science) related.
