In this 6-week online course, students will learn Spanish basics and by the end, they will be able to have a basic conversation in Spanish.

1 hour per week. Sometimes students may need extra time outside of class to finish a mini-project. However, I will not assign homework outside of class during this camp course, unless extra practice is requested.Assessment
There will be informal assessment during class time. These informal, formative assessments will assure me of student understanding. These assessments will be quick checks for understanding during my direct instruction, as well as when students practice application through our activities. However, there will be no formal assessment.Class Experience
US Grade 6 - 9
This is a 6-week course, which will meet twice a week. Learners do not need previous experience with Spanish as we will begin with greetings, introductions and the alphabet. Zoom classes will normally begin with a short lesson (about 10 minutes long), in which students will interact with my provided slides, as well as watch videos and play games (i.e. Bingo, Kahoot, Jeopardy) that will further their understanding. For the rest of class, learners will practice communicating the learned topic/skill independently and with each other. Few classes will require learners to watch a short video or complete a short activity before/after class. I will inform students and parents of these brief assignments when the classes begin. We will follow the curriculum below: Week/Semana 1: Part A: Greetings and introductions (¡Hola! Me llamo Vicky.) Part B: Where are we from and what is the weather like there? (Yo soy de... y hace mucho frío.) Week/Semana 2: Part A: Let's describe ourselves! (Yo soy inteligente, creativa y divertida.) Part B: What do you and others like to do? (Me gusta practicar el español.) Week/Semana 3: School life (Mis clases son divertidas.) Week/Semana 4: Food and Clothing! (Me gusta comer y me gusta la ropa.) Week/Semana 5: My family and home (Mi familia) Week/Semana 6: Home life & Celebration of learning- Project time! (Celebración)
Learning Goals
Students will learn and practice the basics in the 4 modes of communication. They will learn to read, write, speak, and listen in Spanish. Students will learn vocabulary to have a basic conversation in Spanish.

Parental Guidance
We will be using external tools such as: Google Classroom, Canva, EdPuzzle, Gimkit, Kahoot, PearDeck, and I always encourage students to use the Duolingo app and website, but this will not be required for class.
For Gimkit:
Your student will be given a game code to join. And I will screen share for the game.
For Kahoot:
Your student will be given a game code to join. And I will screen share for the game.
For Canva:
Your student will need an email address (yours or their own) to access work and templates. It is preferable that the student has access to a GMAIL.com email as we will use Google classroom features.
For Google Docs and Slides:
The student will need a GMAIL.com email to access (yours or their own).
For NearPod:
The student will need an email account (yours or their own). I will screen share so students can follow along as well, in case there is ever a tech issue.
For PearDeck:
The student will need an email account (yours or their own). I will screen share so students can follow along as well, in case there is ever a tech issue.
For Edpuzzle:
The student will need an email account, preferably a GMAIL.com account (yours or their own).
For YouTube:
I will screen share any YouTube video resources that we use in class; therefore students will not need their own access to YouTube.
For Quizlet:
I will sometimes screen share a Quizlet resource or game that we use in class; however, I recommend that students create their own accounts and build their own study sets.
Supply List
A positive attitude and a growth mindset. A place for the learner to take notes would also be helpful! This could be a physical notebook and pen or pencil.

¡Hola estudiantes y familias! It is great to meet you. My name is Vicky Stankowski and I teach beginner to advanced levels of Spanish on Outschool. I taught Secondary Spanish for the past nine years in Ohio. I have also taught English as a Second Language through an online platform called VIPKID for the past seven years. I have always believed that education is the key to any success a person wants and I am amazed at how accessible education is, especially in today's world. Education should be fun and it should be an engaging experience. It is a two-way street. I enjoy teaching Spanish and ESL because they foster global citizens for life!
