This class is an intensive/extensive study of highland dance for dancers who are interested in competing or performing in highland dance. It meets multiple times a week. Dancers may enter this class at the recommendation of the teacher.
Class experience
In this class, dancers who wish to compete or perform in Scottish Highland Dance will continue their study of dance. They will continue to work on technique for the Highland Fling throughout this ongoing class, and will learn the Sword Dance and Seann Triubhas. In the first week, I will continue to teach the highland fling, and we will master doing the Fling to music. I will begin an introduction to the sword dance. Fellows teacher in Scottish Highland Dance. Members teacher in Scottish National dances. Both with the British association teachers of dance.
2 yard sticks to use as swords- dancers will dance over crossed swords (yard sticks) on the floor, water bottle, dancers must wear shorts and a form fitted t shirt or tank top. Hair must be in a pony tail or pulled away from face.
