Class Experience

In this fun and engaging brick building class, students will show off their creative building skills while learning about vehicles, transportation, nature, buildings or tools and their uses.

Students will take turns rolling the cube and choosing a card to determine what we will build. The four categories for building are: nature, buildings, vehicles, and tools. As we are building our creations, the students will learn about the categories. For example: If something from the vehicle category is chosen, we will talk about transportation, specifically that vehicle. Students will have sharing time to talk about their creations and get class feedback.

The challenge is to come up with a plan to build and then build quickly, in just a few minutes. The goal is to build at least one item from each of the four categories before class time ends.

I created this class to build and foster a positive and safe environment where learners feel comfortable being themselves and making meaningful connections with their peers. During class conversations, I will promote kindness and acceptance, allowing everyone to speak, share and listen to each other.

Materials
bricks, small baseplates (use whatever you have, big or small, but the small ones work great for the quick, small builds in this class), wheels and axels in case we need to build a car (if you have them). Cars can easily be built without wheels, and a little imagination.

Are you ready? Let's build!
Learning Goals
Students will learn brick identification while talking about transportation, nature, buildings and much more.
