Does your child's self-talk hold them back socially? It all starts in the mind! In this lesson, we’ll dive into the power of self-talk and how it shapes social interactions. Designed for kids ages 8-13, this class helps them build confidence and turn around negative beliefs. We begin by identifying and categorizing self-talk, showing how our internal dialogue can either lift us up or hold us back. We will also introduce the reframing technique, a powerful tool for changing the stories we tell ourselves about our interactions with others. By altering these narratives, we can transform how we see ourselves and our ability to connect with others. To make this concept come alive, we’ll participate in a fun mind experiment, demonstrating how our brain believes what we tell it. This class will include a video where we will go over the concepts through a google slide presentation. We will be doing activities "together" with props and experiments as they learn this particular skill. This lesson will also have a google form/quiz that will be graded with feedback to reinforce what was learned. Also included is our Real-World Lab Observation Sheet where they will record their self-talk over a few days and put the reframing skills into practice in "real life". Feedback can be expected within 24-48 hours of submittal. This self-paced class format gives your child the flexibility to watch the videos and do the projects at times that are convenient for them.

Hi I’m Bonnie. It’s nice to meet you and thank you for checking out my profile! You’re probably wondering what you can expect in my class. I believe that there are three key ingredients that makes for successful learning. First, the lesson should be interactive, engaging and entertaining. Being an online teacher for 2.5 years, I have learned the value of keeping kids actively engaged during class. (This is especially important online.) Second is valuing each student for their unique qualities so they feel comfortable in class. Kids should be at ease to speak up or not. There are some children who prefer to listen first before participating. Third, is a high energy class with someone who is excited about their topic. You can expect to see these key things in my classes!
