Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 12
Beginner - Intermediate Level
*This is a self-paced class. This means there are NO LIVE MEETINGS. I also offer this as part of my ongoing biology clay class if you are interested!

I can remember learning about the cell all the way back in 5th grade, making a cell cake in 6th grade, learning about it in more detail in high school, and finally looking at the parts again on my first day of college! This class is for any age : )

Cells continue to fascinate me as I teach about them, and it’s something you’re going to want to know about!

Let's have fun creating while learning about a very important part of life: CELLS! Students will be introduced to the structure and function of cells while building the parts with Play-Doh. Students will learn interesting facts about their body, plants, and bacteria. Students will construct an animal cell, plant cell, bacteria cell, and a nerve cell. Learners will need at least three small cans of play-dough. Students may use more colors for a more detailed model (4-6 cans of Play-Doh). I will provide videos with step-by-step directions as we build our cells together. Cell anatomy templates will be provided each week, along with the videos. Students may print it out to use as a reference or mat to work on. I will talk and ask questions about the cells while creating them. No previous knowledge needed!

I will be available to provide feedback within 24 hours. If you do one cell each week, then it should take you four weeks to complete the class.

I look forward to seeing you there!
