Beginner Level
In this engaging 40-minute class, young artists will draw and paint a unique bug with crayons and watercolor paints on watercolor paper! Students will need watercolor paper, a pencil, an eraser, crayons, a small bowl of water, a paintbrush, and watercolor paints. This small group class is perfect for those who enjoy a more intimate setting and won't cancel even with minimal enrollment. We'll start with a teacher-led review of lines, shapes, and patterns, then move into drawing bugs. Students will unleash their creativity, using lines, shapes, and patterns to design their bugs uniquely. Next comes the exciting part—adding vibrant watercolor paint! I'll demonstrate how the crayon resists the paint. Throughout the class, students can ask questions, and extra help will be available if needed. Finally, they'll have a chance to share their fantastic bug paintings in our fun, interactive class environment. We'll cover art vocabulary, including different lines, shapes, space concepts like overlapping, and mixed media techniques like crayon resist. Plus, we'll explore patterns using repeating lines, shapes, and colors."
