Beginner Level
This one-time class is specially designed for beginner students will little to no music background. We will learn basic rhythm patterns using rhythmic syllables, body percussion, and of course buckets. Students will practice several echo-me activities, which will help learners better understand the rhythm patterns. We will also explore the parts of the bucket to produce the best sound and techniques for playing the buckets. Having your camera on during class will be very helpful so that I can see and offer suggestions for proper technique. Students will have the opportunity to see the rhythm patterns written out in notation format to reinforce basic music reading skills. Students will be able to share what they have been learning by using the Outschool classroom platform. A bucket and wooden sticks are required for this one-time class. Since this is Intro to Bucket Beatz, be sure to follow me, to get notifications of upcoming classes. Can't wait to see you in the classroom!
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to hold drum sticks, as well as how to position the bucket to produce the best sound. They will learn how to keep a steady beat while reading music notation and learn simple rhythm patterns. We will also perform our rhythm patterns with professionally produced uptempo, modern backing tracks.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Music or Theatre or Arts from Montclair State University
I’ve been teaching music and performing arts to children of all ages for more than 20 years. Most of my students have been between the ages of 3 and 18 years old.
During college, I worked and volunteered at The Children’s Theater Workshop and Newark School of the Arts as a music and theater teacher assistant. During that time, I also worked in New Jersey as a teaching artist for the East Orange School District’s Summer Theater Project on productions including West Side Story, Fame, Mama I Want to Sing, and many others. Equally important, I also worked as an Arts Education Consultant for the New Jersey Performing Arts Center and served on the Board of Directors for The Children’s Theater Workshop in New Jersey.
As the owner of a mobile music school in New York, I have provided general music and performing arts classes for students for over 15 years. Most recently, I was the music teacher at a Charter School in the state of Florida where I taught elementary music and performing arts for grades PreK- Grade Five until the pandemic. I have since moved my school online, teaching music appreciation classes, private voice, and beginner piano lessons to children and adults.
I have performed professionally as a vocalist internationally for a number of years and also provide professional music services through my entertainment company.
My teaching and work experience doesn’t end there. Throughout my years as a teaching artist, I have volunteered for a host of community, civic and religious organizations providing a variety of music educational services to students of all ages and continue to do so presently.
