Class Experience

In this three-day class, students will explore the musical Hamilton! We will create our own founding father figure through creative writing and drawing activities, write and design a letter to someone through a fun craft, and of course sing and dance! 

On the first day, students will play some ice breaker games and start to create their character. On the second day, students will write a letter to someone from their character through an exciting craft. On the last day, students will "perform" their final song and dance, and play plenty of fun games!

Students will interact with Ms. Emily and the other students in the classroom.

Supply List

Students will need paper and pencils for drawing activities, as well as printed materials provided by Ms. Emily (if no printer is available, students can write the questions on a blank sheet of paper). Students will need scissors, glue/tape, etc. for the craft day.

External Resources

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Teacher expertise and credentials

Emily is an experienced teacher and vocal instructor. She has worked with students of all ages, teaching both music and acting. She currently teaches music and movement classes for daycares and public schools, as well as private voice lessons and group music classes through her studio, Sing with Emily. 

Emily received her Bachelors of Music in Vocal Performance from NYU Steinhardt and has worked as a professional actor and singer around the country. She currently lives and teaches in the Chicago area. 

Emily thoroughly believes that the skills learned in singing and performing are accessible to everyone when encouraged and nurtured. Emily believes in establishing a safe and fun environment for students to learn and grow. Through confidence building, students can truly begin to create! Let's get creative!
