Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
Do you love to read? Do you love books? Perfect! Pick out a book and join us for a fun and interactive book club! All reading levels are invited! Feel free to bring a picture book, early reader, or chapter book! Both non-fiction and fiction books are welcome. Just make sure that your book is age-appropriate and school-appropriate.

This club is different from other book clubs where everyone reads and talks about the same book. In the Bring Your Own Book Club, YOU get to pick what to read! Bring what you're currently reading and be ready to share your thoughts about it as well as hear about books other students are reading!

Each class, we will complete the following activities:

1.) Introduction Time: I will briefly present a book to the class to model the activity.
1.) Presentation Time: Students will take turns presenting their own books with the option of using provided questions to encourage discussion.
2.) Discussion Time: Classmates may share their own opinions or ask questions about each presented book.
3.) Free Choice Time: Time permitting, students have the option to continue reading their book in class or begin a brief creative project (such as a drawing, poem, or short story) about their book. Note: The amount of in-class time we will have for free choice time will vary depending on how many students are enrolled in a session and how active a class's presentation and discussion times may be. If we do not have time in class for free choice time in a given class, I will still provide suggestions for students to complete a creative project outside of class, if they choose.

Each class will be fresh and different as students bring new books and ideas to class each week!

Okay, feel free to get back to reading! I hope to see you soon in class and hear all about your book!
