Hello, and thank you for your interest in Bridge to Terabithia Book Study self-paced class! My name is Kristi Robertson and I will lead learners into the magical fantasy world of Terabithia in this 7-week or on-demand asynchronous class as we read Katherine Paterson's Newbery-award winning book, Bridge to Terabithia! 

There is no prerequisite knowledge required. Learners are required to have their own copy (hardcopy or digital copy) of the book, Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson. We will read and analyze two chapters per week. Please note that since this is a self-paced class, there will not be any live and scheduled Zoom meetings. Learners will access this class on their own time. 

Students will learn and practice the following comprehension focus skills: 
-- Text analysis and responding to literature
-- Exploring how character development and change occurs through events of the plot
-- Making inferences and drawing conclusions based on text clues
-- Summarizing and identifying the main idea of large and small passages of text
-- Identifying cause and effect relationships
-- Perspective and its impact on the reader
-- Defining new vocabulary through context clues
-- Interpreting theme

Learners will have the following assignments:
1. Pre-Reading Activities
2. A Comprehension Focus Book where they will analyze each chapter of the book using the comprehension focus skills listed above
3. A Vocabulary Focus Word Flipbook
4. Discussion questions for each chapter
5. Post-Reading Activities
