US Grade 4 - 7
Not only is reading an essential life skill, but it can be a source of entertainment. In this course, students in 4th, 5th and 6th grade dive into this heartfelt book. Through completing class activities, students will practice reading comprehension skills, identifying plot events, describing characters, determining problems, defining vocabulary words, and recognizing themes in books. Students will be given reading comprehension questions and vocabulary to complete while reading. The instructor will post video introductions providing students with necessary background information. During each class session *We will review reading comprehension questions, vocabulary, main plot points, characters, and discuss important quotes/themes/concepts from the reading. *Students will also play Blooket based on the assigned chapters.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their reading comprehension skills by answering questions and participating in discussions.
Students will gain knowledge of new vocabulary words by defining unknown words and participating in discussions.

Parental Guidance
Students will play Blooket to review key information from the readings. They don't need an account to play the game.
Bridge to Terabithia mentions Christmas, Easter, God and the Bible. One character is hit by her father. One of the main characters also drowns in chapter 10.
