Learners will learn a broad overview of the history of coffee.
I have extensively researched this topic as a coffee enthusiast. The history of coffee has its dark moments, as does the history of most of the world. I will be focusing on the general history and will not be going in depth into more sensitive topics as it is unnecessary to the understanding of how coffee became the popular beverage we know and love today. I traveled to Costa Rica and lived there a month to improve my Spanish and to learn about the history of coffee. I also learned both there and in coffee tastings at Starbucks the proper coffee tasting method which I am excited to share with students who want to explore coffee.
A handout with the steps to proper coffee tasting will be supplied. A list of coffees from around the world and the general flavors and preparations will be supplied by request.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
The history of coffee does refer to slavery as it was a primary means of cultivation for many years. Single Learner Classes: - Single learner classes will go ahead as scheduled unless learner and family request otherwise. - Lesson may end early. If the lesson ends early there will be an extended discussion and Q & A. Learners may be released from class up to 5 minutes early if Q & A ends early.
