Class Experience

Current events related to the COVID-19 virus can be stressful and confusing for kids, but we can equip them with the tools that they need to feel safe and secure. In this highly interactive class, students will learn to foster courage & calm through difficult times. Although the class will be framed in the current context of the pandemic, students will learn to apply these skills to a broad range of situations that they might experience in life. The small class format provides students with a welcoming, inclusive space to learn more about their emotions. Notes and materials will be sent prior to the start of class.

We'll cover:
1) the importance of seeking support from others
2) how to create a safe home environment
3) managing difficult emotions

Teacher expertise and credentials
As a clinical psychology doctoral student at Northwestern University, I'm passionate about helping young people connect with themselves. In my clinical practice, I've worked with a diverse range of patients at Northwestern Hospital - conducting evidence-based therapy like CBT and ACT. As a parent myself, I appreciate the importance of evidence-based approaches, so all my Outschool classes are based on skill-building exercises that are firmly rooted in these principles. Nonetheless, it's my personal goal to make my classes as fun, interactive, and engaging as possible so that my students enjoy their time in class, and learn to appreciate their thoughts and feelings!
