This class is meant to be a continuation of my Brain Power Part 3 course. Students taking this class should already have an understanding of what the brain is, what parts it has and what they do, and how the brain develops and learns. It is best if they have a basic understanding of what psychology is and how studies work. During each 25 minute lesson we will sing/ listen to a song about the brain as a warm up. We will then explore the brain together using online resources, and/ or prepared ppt summaries. During class will do an interactive game or activity to help solidify the information we have learned. Throughout the course I will be using big words for the brain such as cerebellum and cranial nerves with an explanation of what they mean. Week 1 Brain Development: We will learn how our brain is developing through childhood. Week 2 Consciousness: We will learn how the conscious brain works (thoughts that we are aware of). Week 3 Subconsciousness: We will learn about the parts of our brain that function even when we are asleep, and thoughts we might be having that we are not aware of. Week 4 Intelligence: We will learn what intelligence is, how it is tested, and our expanding understanding of different types of intelligence.

Teacher expertise and credentials
When I took my first psychology course in University I was hooked on the topic! I couldn't believe it had taken me so long to learn about my brain! The program I was in would not allow for a minor, but that did not stop me from taking every psychology course I could fit in my schedule! The more I studied psychology the stronger the feeling grew that it was a topic that should be learned early in life. If I could improve my own mind and memory so much as a late teen/ young adult, imagine how much impact a psychology course could have on a child's learning? Imagine how much it could change the life of someone who is neurodivergent if they could understand brain plasticity and adaptability? Psychology is a passion for me, that is why I am offering this course, and that is why I hope you will sign up!
