Class Experience

Working Memory Games Club Level A is an engaging and social course for students who would benefit from improving underlying skills needed for academics.

Join me for intensive learning through games! Together, we'll spend time improving skills such as:
- working memory
- processing speed
- attention
- memory (both visual and auditory)
- long term memory

We use games, exercises, practice, and fun to increase skills and solidify progress.

We will play games on the screen, in nearpod, and on individual (real life) white boards with a dry erase marker. One example game is "memory" where I will show the student a pattern or picture on my screen, and then count to 5. Once the picture is hidden, I'll ask a distracting question like, "are you wearing blue?". Then we'll see if they can remember the pattern! Then the student will draw what they remember on their own whiteboards and then show the class. We'll practice this and work on increasing difficulty as the student is able.

This course is structured a bit differently than my 1:1 classes. our focus will be on social time through fun brain games that can be played as a group.

Week 1:
Ocean themed games!
- Open with a processing speed game!
- play a working memory game!
- a number or letter brain game
- visual memory and auditory memory drawing games
- close with a fun group game

Week 2:
Jungle themed games
- Open with a processing speed game!
- play a working memory game!
- a number or letter brain game
- visual memory and auditory memory drawing games
- close with a fun group game

Week 3:
Castle themed games
- Open with a processing speed game!
- play a working memory game!
- a number or letter brain game
- visual memory and auditory memory drawing games
- close with a fun group game

Week 4:
Space themed games
- Open with a processing speed game!

Each week will be a new theme with similar games to build skills and have fun!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Welcome to my classroom! I have a B.A. in history and ancient languages, but my true love is helping students with learning differences thrive! I have been teaching small groups, individuals, and online for the past 15 years! I have extensive experience with dyslexia, ADHD, autism, down syndrome, and more learning differences.

I am also a homeschool mom of four children, who are all neurodivergent in their own ways! We have two dogs, Jackson (a cardigan corgi), and Sookie (a goldendoodle). Many students enjoy saying hi to the pups at the end of our sessions ;)

Did you know, sometimes the best way to improve reading and math skills is actually by taking a step back and building underlying skills first?

Imagine not having the ability to hold things in your working memory. For example, someone gives you directions to find a specific item in the grocery store. Your working memory holds onto that information long enough for you to find the item! In many children with ADHD and dyslexia, this skill is weak, but can be strengthened! Reading and math both require a strong working memory!

Another skill is processing speed. By building how quickly and accurately your brain can process visual and auditory information, you'll increase your student's capacity for learning new concepts!

Don't forget long term memory, attention, logic, and more! All of these skills are what we focus on in my classes! Rather than practicing math and reading, we play games that build these skills. Everyone has so much fun AND they grow in their math and reading skills!

I believe 1-on-1 learning is the way to go for this type of class! Each session is tailored to your unique student, and we build on skills that they need. Every session looks different because I am meeting the needs of each student individually.
