Class experience

5 lessons//5 Weeks
 Week 1
Lesson 1
Assertiveness
Students will learn to grasp the significance of their inner voice and learn how to effectively express themselves with kindness and confidence by understanding what it means to be assertive.
 Week 2
Lesson 2
What are my friendship/relationship rules?
It's essential to explore our preferences and comfort levels within various relationships. This lesson focuses on defining our "rules" regarding interactions with friends, family, possessions, and our bodies as their preferences and boundaries may not always be obvious to others.
 Week 3
Lesson 3
How to communicate our rules and preferences in an assertive way.
This lesson will reinforce the concept of assertiveness and emphasize the significance of advocating for ourselves in situations where we feel unsafe, uncomfortable, or disrespected.
 Week 4
Lesson 4
Setting and Holding Boundaries
When clear communication of our needs isn't being respected by others, it's time to establish a boundary. Students will grasp that boundaries shift focus from what we say or expect others to do to what actions we will take.
 Week 5
Lesson 5
Respecting others boundaries and tying it all together
We'll emphasize the significance of respecting the boundaries of others and acknowledging boundaries even when they're not clearly communicated. The video's conclusion will recap the lessons learned and present learners with a challenge: to assert themselves with someone in their life who may be causing discomfort, feelings of unsafety, or disrespect.
This class is taught in English.
To better understand the importance of assertiveness and boundaries to build a strong foundation for the relationships in our lives.
I have a degree in elementary education and have been working with kids through teaching, coaching, and childcare for over 20 years. I have extensive experience and expertise working with ESL learners. Also, I am raising 4 children of my own. I am often inspired to create classes that cover subjects I find important in my own parenting journey. I am a lifelong learner and an avid reader. To support my curriculum development I dedicate significant time to reading, listening, and learning about the most current research on child development, teaching, and parenting, and safety.

I also have taught on this topic in my live ongoing classes hundreds of times. I have a unique way to discuss hard topics with children. A way that truely sticks.
Homework Offered
Students will have optional extension activities and challenges throughout the class.
