Description
Class Experience
Students will build their love for reading! Students will also improve their comprehension skills as they read and build what they are learning!
I have been playing Minecraft for years and can speak the "language". As your child creates their story-related Minecraft build, I will offer inspiration and suggestions as needed through our weekly discussion in the classroom.
Each week students will read a portion of our story, answer comprehension questions and complete a Minecraft build related to The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. These will be assigned each week. Students will share a screen shot of their Minecraft build in the classroom. This homework will require time for reading, completing the comprehension questions and completing the build. Depending on your child's reading level and time spent to complete the questions and the Minecraft build, homework can take anywhere from 1-2 hours to complete. But, Minecraft-ing is the fun part and it won't seem like homework! (Shhh ... it might even be fun!)
Students will need to have access to a copy (or audiobook) of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C. S. Lewis to complete the weekly reading schedule. Students will also need to have any version of Minecraft available in order to complete the weekly builds AND to share screenshots of their builds in the classroom. If you need assistance in taking a screenshot, this link is helpful! https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/article/screenshotting-guide
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
If your student would like to join this class, please be sure they have access to a version of Minecraft. See this website for more details: https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/get-minecraft. Students will also need to submit a screenshot of their Minecraft build to the classroom each week to share their homework.
