Books and Babble Book Club: Teen Edition (13-15 Years Old)
In this weekly, on-going book club, we will be discussing a well loved teen book per month. Students will discuss the book, play games and participate in debates.
What's included
1 live meeting
45 mins in-class hours per weekMastery Evaluation
1-2 hours per week. Students will read the books outside of the classroom time. Students will also come to class prepared to think and talk critically about the books they've read.Class Experience
In this weekly, on-going book club, students will be discussing a well loved teen/young adult book each month. Comprehension questions and in depth discussions on plot, characters, themes, narration, pacing, language and much more will take place. Students will also play games and participate in debates. These classes will be very student focused, with students having a lot of opportunities to voice their opinions. Each lesson will be a complete lesson, which means you can join and leave at any time. It is highly recommended that you read the book before the lessons. This will mean you get more out of the lessons and won't be spoiled. Each book will be age appropriate, but I recommend that you visit the website Common Sense Media to make a decision if the books are appropriate for your student. Books will not be provided. They must be bought or borrowed at your own discretion. Learning Goals
Students will be able to discuss various teen novels in depth. This includes plot, themes, characters, narration etc
Students will be able to voice their opinions on a number of topics.

While books will be age appropriate it is recommended that parents visit the website Common Sense Media to make a decision if the books are appropriate for your student.
Pre-Requisites
It is recommended that students read the book prior to class. If they don't they mind encounter spoilers.
Supply List
Students will need to a copy of the book we will be reading. This needs to either be bought or borrowed from the library.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I have a huge passion for reading! I have a Bachelor of Arts in English language and literature. I spent many years during my degree analysing books. I was an ESL teacher in South Korea for 4 years. I was also a high school English tutor for students aged 13-18. While tutoring a lot of my teaching was on how to analyse a text and reading comprehension .
