Class Experience

When a lonely woodcarver receives a magical piece of wood, he gives life to a puppet named Pinocchio, hoping he will finally have a son of his own. But will the old man’s dream ever come true? Join us for this endearing classic!

The Adventures of Pinocchio, by Carlo Collodi, is a timeless classic, best known for the movie version of the story, but this book is VERY different from the movie, and so much better! In our home, we love to read the book first and watch the movie at the end. I can’t wait to share this timeless classic with your students!

In this multi-day book club, we will meet once weekly for 7 weeks to dive deep. During out time together, full participation in discussion is expected. There is grace for a shy student, of course, but students will be encouraged to dive into the discussion as they acclimate to the group. Each student will have a turn to share their thoughts and ideas. I will have questions and discussion prompts ready each week, should conversation lag. After our discussion time, we will end with a game if time permits! My book clubs are typically highly engaging, highly interactive, very lively!

Chapters will be assigned to be read ahead of time, beforehand. There are 36 chapters in this book. The book is also available as an audiobook! All of class time will be dedicated to discussing the books, applying critical thinking, discussing characters, plot, and other literary aspects, designing a book cover, and ending with a fun game, all related to the book. Snacks are always welcome!
