Bob Books Beginner Reading Skills Class: Set 1

In this class, students will build stronger  phonetic awareness, becoming confident phonetic readers using the Bob Book Series, Set 1 for Beginning Readers.  Each week we will focus on an initial set of letters/sounds.  Sequentially new letters/ sounds will be added each class to build decoding, reading skills.  All letters of the alphabet will be introduced (except Q) with consistent sounds throughout- this is key for new readers. Additionally, 5 sight words and punctuation understanding will be introduced. Class will be conducted in a fun, personable, relaxed manner to make the class enjoyable for all students. Young learners typically love to share their ideas and thoughts. This makes learning fun and meaningful! Students will be encouraged to take turns, be kind and courteous when listening to fellow students. We will also practice encoding, word building and writing/fine motor skills to reinforce spelling, proper letter formation and word vocabulary. Writing worksheets will be provided every week.
