In this class, students will build stronger phonetic awareness, becoming confident phonetic readers using the Bob Book Series, Set 1 for Beginning Readers. Each week we will focus on an initial set of letters/sounds. Sequentially new letters/ sounds will be added each class to build decoding, reading skills. All letters of the alphabet will be introduced (except Q) with consistent sounds throughout- this is key for new readers. Additionally, 5 sight words and punctuation understanding...
Homework Offered
I highly recommend parents read to, or with your child 15-20 minutes everyday. While reading, have your child play Eye Spy for letter/sounds read in the story, and point out short words. This the perfect at home, less-than-a-minute, meaningful teachable moment!0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
