1 hour per week. Learners will typically be assigned a comprehension worksheet, exploration challenge, "Thinking Beyond" article or follow-up video task after each session. These assignments should take no more than 30 minutes to one hour to complete, maximum. If student's are struggling with assignments, I am available for messaging or private tutoring sessions on most days. Completing assignments is optional based on each parent's preference, but students who participate in post-class assignments typically perform better in overall class discussions and comprehension.Assessment
Learners will be given a feedback report at the end of each unit, which will be sent via Outschool message to the parent. It will include an overall impression of the student's progress in class, and suggestions or comments regarding class performance and participation.Grading
Grades will be provided upon request. Students will receive a final grade, which is an average of a participation grade, activity completion grade and final test grade. All grades will be provided with a break down and brief commentary.Class Experience

The weekly syllabus is listed below, but please keep in mind that this schedule will flex depending on the pace required by the majority of the class. Week 1: Seeds and Angiosperms Week 2: Pollination and Fruits Week 3: Leaves, Roots and Stems Week 4: Trees Week 5: Gymnosperms and Seedless Vascular Plants Week 6: Nonvascular Plants and Mycology This is an exciting fulling interactive class that will encourage lots of student dialogue and participation. Class will include auditory, visual and kinesthetic learning to effectively connect with every type of learner. Occasionally we will watch short videos for lab demonstrations. We will play fun games to reinforce learning concepts. Students do not have to have any prior knowledge of plant science to participate in this course. They will just need to come with a great attitude, ready and willing to learn and participate! At the completion of each unit, a comprehensive review assignment will be given and I will review and send out reports to each student regarding their absorption of the materials and their progress in the class. We will have experiments in class where each student can customize their experience. If they choose to observe they may, or they may choose to gather materials and duplicate the experiment at home, as well. A supplemental lab video will also be supplied to each student after that day's class. Supply lists for lab days are sent out well in advance. Learning Goals
Students will gain an understanding of basic plant science including anatomy of plants and seeds, plant families, plant reproduction and the importance of plants in our world! We will explore photosynthesis, and how we can play an important role in the care and keeping of plants.

Supply List
There are no REQUIRED materials for this class. I will provide worksheets and reviews in PDF format via the class communication page in Outschool. Video links will be provided for follow-up videos utilizing the same method. Experiment materials are OPTIONAL and a list of needed supplies for hands-on participation will be sent in advance. Most of these items are common household items that easily obtainable and inexpensive.
