Class Experience

This short course introduces students to the most common Chinese radicals(symbols) that are the fundamental components of each written character. By studying these "words within the words", students gain the ability to "dissect" each character by identifying the pictographs and/or ideograms within each word, and learn the most important radicals that can give "meanings clues" to other Chinese characters in a fun and engaging way.

Join us to explore radicals such as 木(wood) and find it in many other characters such as 床(bed), 桌(table), 树(tree), and 林(forest), or study characters such as 船 (ark) that has 舟(ship), 八(eight), and 口(mouth/person) within, or 造(to create) that has the symbols 土(earth) and 口(mouth/person) inside!

All online and pdf study materials will be provided free of charge.

No previous knowledge of Chinese is required.

Recorded sessions are available for students with scheduling conflicts.
