Hi! I am Denise, the owner of Future Vet  & Animal Science Academy. I have been a certified veterinary technician for more than 30 years in a mixed animal practice that also sees exotics and injured wildlife. I have a MEd from Colorado State University and and I am now finishing up my second Master’s program and will have a Master of Veterinary Education (MVEd) from Lincoln Memorial University’s School of Veterinary Medicine by spring 2024.   

I have been teaching  at local colleges and universities in veterinary Assistant Programs, an Equine Studies program and a variety of Veterinary Science programs for grades 3-5, 6-8, and high school. 

Along with all that I am also a homeschool mom! At home, my family has 3 mini horses, a Paint horse, 4 Nigerian dwarf goats, 4 chickens and 2 indoor kitties! 

I am passionate about sharing my experience and love for animals and veterinary medicine with others! 

Homework Offered
Reading assignments will be given weekly and should be completed PRIOR to the next unit. Generally the reading will be about one chapter / 10-15 pages. 

Videos will also be provided for additional learning and observation of the skills or topic discussed each week.  

Some units will have worksheets, activities or projects to do for practice. These are not required but recommended. 
2 - 4 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Learners will have unit quizzes and a final exam. Informal assessment of skills will be done in class with feedback given by the instructor at the time. 
Grades Offered
Grades will be provided based on quizzes and the final exam. A 70% is required to go on to the second semester Veterinary Assistant 2 course.
