Homework
1 hour per week. Homework will be the reading passage from that day's lesson. During the next lesson, the student will be asked to read the previous passage and answer two questions. The student will be able to find the answer in the text.Assessment
The only assignment will be the reading passage from the lesson. All students will receive a reading passage. The passages will be located in the classroom page. There is no grade attached to the assignment. This is just to monitor development.Class Experience

Better Phonics. Better Reader. 1-On-1 Tutoring With Ms. Alexander! Ages 5-9. Your child will build a useful toolkit of skills, as they learn phonics, word study, and effective reading strategies. A boost of confidence comes when letters, sounds, and words make sense. This class is perfect for native English speakers and second language learners who may struggle with phonics and decoding. It is designed to provide ongoing class and homework support in phonics. The class curriculum includes phonics, vocabulary, decoding and skills in word study. My classes are structured to give standard-based instruction in phonics, by incorporating the early literacy practices of singing, playing, reading, writing, and talking. The structure of each class includes a review of the previous phonemic skill, an introduction of a new skill, and fun activities that thoroughly reinforce both skills. The lessons are packed with entertaining activities that keep your child engaged. As partners in your child's education journey, I welcome open communication and collaboration every step of the way.
