Students will recognize that they solve problems every day. The goal of this class is for learners to understand their thinking pathway, be equipped with more critical thinking skills, and to practice solving logic problems. Equally important is the integration of high engagement and fun while learning. Students will also discuss ways that learning to problem-solve can help them every day as they apply what they have learned in this class.
20 years experience teaching GT students, GT certification.
Optional Homework includes solving logic problems.
1 file available upon enrollmentA one-page thinking map is provided for students to complete before class so our beginning discussion will be more productive. This is optional.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Informal assessment is used at the beginning of class so Mrs. Hancock can determine what students already know. Observations will be made by Mrs. Hancock to determine the learner's critical thinking ability and progress throughout the lesson. These observations will be used to guide the lesson and its challenge level. Optional homework will allow students to apply what they have learned and can be used for a grade if needed.
40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
