Class Experience

In this course, essential Japanese concepts will be mastered, including:
- the hiragana alphabet, the most essential writing system of Japanese
- grammatical construction of basic Japanese sentence structures
- vocabulary ranging from greetings and introductions, to conversational subjects such as family, interests, hobbies, and elements of Japanese culture
- accurate pronunciation training
- a healthy dose of Japanese cultural knowledge

Most classes will feature reviews of previous knowledge through games, conversational demonstrations, or seminar formats.

At the beginning of the course, students will be assigned a cultural topic that they will be required to present during the final session... all in Japanese! They will add more and more to the presentation as they learn more and more ways to describe and explain their topic, while developing an appreciation for Japanese culture and language.

As an instructor, I will always be present to offer enthusiasm for successes, motivation for challenges, and encourage other students to support each other through positive communication.

Students in this class are not expected to have any previous knowledge of Japanese.
