In this 4 day camp learners will be introduced to the guitar. This camp is designed for beginners who have had little to no experience with the guitar. Each day new skills and songs will be introduced, learners will learn how to strum, form basic chords, transition between chords, play songs, and read chord charts. Learners will be given pdf documents after class each day to help guide their practice between classes. It is important that learners practice, not just during class. Even 5 minutes each day will greatly increase their finger strength and dexterity and help them master foundational guitar skills. Material that will be covered: Day 1 (Monday): Parts of the Guitar String Numbers, Fret Numbers, Finger Numbers Posture & Hand Position Strumming (with and without a pick) 1 - 1 Finger Chord Day 2 (Tuesday): Review String, Fret, Finger Numbers Review Strumming 2 - 1 Finger Chords 2+ Songs Chord Progressions Reading Chord Charts Day 3 Wednesday: Review String, Fret, Finger Numbers & Strumming Review 2 Chords and Songs Single Notes - 3 Notes on 2 Strings 2 Songs (Single Notes) Day 4 Thursday: Review String, Fret, Finger Numbers & Strumming 2 New Chords 3+ New Songs New Chord Progressions During each class learners will be on and off of mute. Sometimes everyone will be on mute to learn a new skill and sometimes everyone will be off of mute to practice a skill or play a song together. It is important for me to see and hear each learner to be able to give feedback. I will never have a learner play off of mute if they do not want to, but it is highly encouraged! No prior musical or guitar knowledge is necessary, just the willingness to learn something new and have fun! This is a great introductory class if you would like to see if your learner is interested in learning to play the guitar!

Supply List
Learners should bring a guitar to class (classical, acoustic, electric). They should be sitting on the floor or in a chair without arms to allow them to hold the guitar properly. It is also helpful if I am able to see their hands, especially the left hand, to be able to monitor proper finger placement and offer feedback.
