Class Experience

US Grade Preschool - 1
Beginner Level
Spanish through play- Bring your toys to our Spanish class. In this short term class, you will have the opportunity to fully immerse in conversational Spanish through play. Students will feel comfortable practicing their Spanish as we play while having Spanish conversations! Students may join any week to practice the skills they need most. I will bring a toy or toys each week to lead and facilitate a conversation through play. I will encourage students to focus on the terms of the week, but conversations may vary to include more terms. Each week I will encourage students to bring a specific toy to help facilitate the conversation, but it is not required.

Week 1 (August 19, 2024): Food Fun- This week we will pretend we arrived at a restaurant for a celebration. You may bring your favorite stuffed animal or doll to join us or simply join us yourself (no toys required)! The terms we will discuss are: greeting the host/server, listening to their questions/directions, ordering a drink/food to your liking, asking and answering basic questions about the experience. Conversations are student guided and will vary. Students will be guided with words or statements they struggle with to encourage as much conversation as possible.
Materials: No toys required this week, so just join our class! You may bring food, utensils, stuffed animals or action figure, and anything else you may find at a restaurant.

Week 2 (August 26, 2024): Play dough Fun- This week will use play dough to guide our conversations. Students are encouraged to bring some play dough to facilitate conversations about individual creations, but it is not mandatory. The terms we will discuss are: colors, prepositions when creating, following directions, asking and answering questions about their creations. Conversations are student guided and will vary.
Materials: Play dough is strongly encouraged.

Week 3 (September 2, 2024): Careers-This week we are learning about different careers in our community. You can dress up as the career of your liking or bring your favorite toy related to a career! We can discuss the different things these professionals do and how they contribute to our community.
Materials: Costume or career oriented toys.

Week 4 (September 9, 2024): Show and Tell- This week students will have the opportunity to discuss their favorite toy while others ask questions.
Materials: Any toy that they feel comfortable talking to their peers about.
