Stories, laughter, and games make compelling forces in language-learning! In this class, those at or near the beginning of their Spanish-language journey will practice different kinds of structures and phrases each week while playing games and listening to a story. Though this flex version of the course includes no live class time, please see below the various ways we will interact over the course of this learning experience:

~Interaction Through Instructional Videos~
Each Sunday, I will post a video introducing the new structures and vocabulary for the week. I will also read a short story or a chapter of the novel and provide comprehension questions. Students will have opportunities to show their understanding through various methods and activities. The teacher will provide constructive feedback on responses.

~Interaction Through Reinforcement Games and Activities~
Each Sunday, I share a video of myself reading the story, I provide printable versions of the stories and practice activities for the students. I recommend that students read that story to a person at home, SSR (Sustained Silent Reading) or record themselves and share with the teacher for additional practice. We will correct comprehension questions every week for feedback and have an optional interactive game or activity to check for understanding.

Learning Goals

There will be a combination of videos, audio excerpts, pictures/infographics, discussion boards, or music, and, of course, stories all focused on a specific topic. We will learn new vocabulary in the context of the story each lesson. These items will be available for you to go through at your own pace throughout the week. I will be checking in with the class on a regular basis to see how they are progressing. Resources for each lesson will be provided every Monday.

Even though this isn't a live class, this is an interactive class! Make sure you are actively reading/listening and participating throughout the lessons. Your participation helps guide me, the teacher, to provide materials to review words or add more challenging words! Please feel free to message me with any questions you have, I LOVE helping my students! :) Students can contact me (the instructor) any time they wish via the Classroom page & Teacher page. I will respond to questions within 24-48 hours.

Each week, learners are encouraged to complete the following assignments to receive the maximum out of this class, retain the material, and have fun:
1. Watch the teacher instructional video.
2. Read the week's story with a person at home, SSR or share recording of the story with the teacher.
3. Do follow up comprehension activities and worksheets about the story.
4. Participate in reinforcement weekly games or activities.
Throughout this course, Students will be practicing the 4 main parts of learning Spanish through reading, listening, speaking & writing. Each week, I will post activities to complete requiring written or spoken responses in the form of practicing reading/listening comprehension, spoken Q & A/prompts, or writing prompts. Response activities are centered around a main story tied to each week's topic. Each week's activities (including the student's response activity) are planned to take 20-30 minutes of a student's time to complete.
