Interested in learning crochet, but not ready to commit to a blanket quite yet? That doesn't mean that you have to settle for creating useless blocks of stitches until you know what you are doing. This 6 week course will teach you all the basics you need to know to be able to proceed with any crochet project you may want to tackle. We will learn all essential crochet stitches, as we work together to complete our first useful crochet project- a scarf! At the completion of this course students will know: How to do all essential crochet stitches- chain stitch, slip stitch, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, and treble crochet. How to switch colors in a project How to read a pattern And will have a completed scarf to wear and show off, or gift to another. Each week we will learn 1-2 new stitches, and practice together for the duration of the class, making sure that students are familiar with the stitches used. Students will be expected to come to the next class, ready to start the sections indicated. Week 1: Students will learn how to chain stitch, single crochet into the chain. Work on rows 1-5. Week 2: Students will learn half double crochet, and double crochet. Work on rows 6-15. Week 3: Students will review what we've learned so far, working of rows 16-21 Week 4: Students will learn treble crochet. Work on rows 22-26 Week 5: Students will review what has been learned. Work on rows 27-32 Week 6: Work on rows 33-43 or more. Will discuss care tips, and how to add fringe to their scarf if they want, once finished. Students do not need to know any prior knowledge to complete this course. Knowing how to create a slip knot is helpful- though we can teach that in week one if necessary. If you would like to learn that, you can take my Crochet Basics: An Introduction course first.
