Bonjour! My name is Laura. I teach the class in French and I do translate as needed to help the learners to understand and memorize what they are learning. The class is for children from 8 to 11 years old. All are welcome but taking Loustics 2 before is recommended. We will read, listen to audio extracts, we will write sentences, work on paragraphs and conjugation, and sometimes have projects to create! The class is structured and part of a yearlong curriculum with new French things to learn every week. I am a fun teacher, I have a lot of patience, and I like to encourage the students to speak. À bientôt! Les Loustics 3 Unit 4: Au pays de Magritte Welcome, everyone! I am looking forward to meeting you all and having fun while teaching to be fluent in French. Summary: Week 1: Tu es déjà venu à Bruxelles? We will practice and review the past tense. We will discover the Belgian painter René Magritte, Belgium, Surrealism art. In the workbook, we fill in the various exercises in reference to lesson 1. We will read and write in French during our lesson. Week 2: Ça fait combien? We will learn how to read the prices in French. We will review our numbers, and learn about the Euro bills. How to calculate and communicate a price out loud. We will learn vocabulary in relation. We will listen to an audio extract and answers the questions. In the workbook, we will complete the exercises in relation to our lesson, and practice our reading and writing. Spelling: Autodictée. Week 3: Es-tu rêveur? Audio: "La fourmi", a poem of Robert Desnos study, class interaction. The insects and intro to the metric system. We will read and write in French what we learn in our lesson, and practice our new vocabulary. In the workbook, we will complete the exercises in relation to our lesson, and practice our reading and writing. Spelling: Autodictée. Week 4: Dis-moi! Introduction to the artist's tools and vocabulary. Presentation of new verbs around art in general. Imperative tense in French explained. Understanding and use of "déjà et jamais". We will read and write in French what we learn in our lesson. Workbook and Spelling: Autodictée. Week 5: "Je découvre: René Magritte" pages. Introduction and analysis of 4 main paintings of Magritte. Mini review of the first 3 lessons. Spelling: Autodictée writing. In the workbook, exercises/review in reference to our lesson 5. Week 6: Conjugaison: Le passé composé of the 2 auxiliaries: Etre et Avoir review. Pronominal verbs. Paintings, painters, Brussels and Belgium review. Week 7: Review and writing catch-up in our workbook. Week 8: General review, informal assessment, the practice of new grammar learned. Week 9: Catch up day.
Learning Goals
They will learn new vocabulary. They will practice and use the "passé composé", an intro to new vocabulary, grammar, and Belgian artist Magritte.
They will learn to practice how to conjugate pronominal verbs in the present tense and past tense.
They will practice their French writing each week and are encouraged to speak in full sentences.
They will practice proper word linking and the articles.
They will learn to speak French with the proper intonation.

Parents are to be aware of any potential hazards, including the possible use of scissors during our lessons. Please assess your learners' capacity to use them if we use them to not hurt themselves.
