Students will learn and practice basic gymnastics skills such as warm-ups, balance, flexibility, rolls, and tripods. They will also practice basic locomotor skills such as skipping, jumping, hopping, galloping, jogging, and crawling. Students will be very active all of the class as they warm-up, practice different skills, and then cool down and stretch. This class will be structured as follows: 5 minutes: warm-up and stretching 20 minutes: practicing and learning new skills 5 minutes: stretching and cooldown *No prior knowledge or experience needed. Week of Feb. 22: Topic/Theme 1 - Locomotor skills (skipping, jumping, hopping, leaping) and tripods Week of March 1: Topic/Theme 2 - Rolls (log rolls, forward rolls) amd balance Week of March 8: Topic/Theme 3 - Headstands and Headstands Week of March 22: Topic/Theme 4 - Relays with locomotor skills, rolls, and handstands/donkey kicks
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Students will need a soft surface to tumble on such as a mat or carpet. They will also need comfortable clothing to move around in and are encouraged to have a drink of water nearby to drink throughout the class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have taught group fitness and elementary P.E. for many years with a long gymnastics unit. I also coached at a gymnastics studio in Texas for a few years. I have a Masters of Physical Education from Texas State University and love helping students develop a passion for physical activity and health.
