In this four-week group guitar class, we will meet twice a week for four weeks and will learn more chords and play more songs. In part 1, we learned the chords G, C, D, A, and em. We will review those chords again, but feel free to jump into part 2 if you already know G, C, and D, and how to tune a guitar! Week 1: We will review chords G, C, D, A, and em, and practice playing songs that incorporate those chords. Weeks 2-4: We will continue learning chords, practice strumming, switching...
During the first week of classes, I will ask each student what types of music they like and what they are interested in learning to play. Throughout this four-week class, we will practice playing multiple songs in class, but the songs will also be assigned as homework for the students to practice between classes. For the final class, I will have each student play a song of their choice (as long as it is not offensive or vulgar), so this will be homework for them outside of class as well. The final song can be one that was played during class throughout the four weeks, but it can also be something different. Again, it is their choice.
An acoustic guitar is the only required material for this course. A guitar pick is optional, but not necessary. No curriculum needs to be purchased for this course. I will provide links to songs to look up and play as we progress through the classes. I will also send the links to each student after class in the conversations tab, so they can have access to the songs to practice on their own throughout the week.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
At the end of each week, I will send each student a message telling them what they are doing well on and what they could continue working on. Nothing will receive a grade in this class, but it is simply for learning and improving, and I hope to encourage each student as well.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
