Beginner Brazilian Portuguese for Younger Learners (Part 1)
In this 12-week introduction to the Brazilian Portuguese language beginner course, learners will develop the basic skills to communicate, read, and write in the Brazilian Portuguese language through lessons described in the Course Description by the Music & Language Learning Center by Kristine Dizon.

Week 1Lesson 1Introductions, Greetings Conversation & NumbersThere will be classroom introductions & classroom expectations. Learners will be introduced to Brazilian Portuguese greetings and the difference between formal and informal conversation, how to introduce oneself, ask for one's name, and how to say goodbye. Learners will learn about cardinal numbers from 0 to 100 that will be broken up in the next couple of sessions. Learners will have an opportunity to practice using the new vocabulary in class and record what they have learned for the teacher.Week 2Lesson 2Introductions, Greetings Conversation & NumbersThere will be classroom introductions & classroom expectations. What time is it? Learners will learn the days of the Week, months and seasons of the year, date structure, and examples. They will be able to learn how to ask for the time in Brazilian Portuguese using the parts of the day and the Brazilian system. There will be activities in couples reading and writing dates with times.Week 4Lesson 4Alphabet & ColoursLearners will be introduced to the Brazilian Portuguese alphabet. In this session, we will work on the pronunciation of vowels and consonants, how to spell their name, and the application of the Brazilian Portuguese alphabet. Learners will also learn the colors in Portuguese and be able to describe the color of different objects in Portuguese using the verb 'ser'. Learners will draw pictures of their dream houses that they will present in the following class using the verbs 'ser' and 'estar'.Week 7Lesson 7AnimalsThe class will begin with learners presenting their dream house in Brazilian Portuguese. Learners will learn new vocabulary relating to commonly used verbs and nouns associated with animals. Learners will do a presentation of their favorite animal at the beginning of the following class.Week 8Lesson 8AnimalsThe class will begin with learners presenting their dream house in Brazilian Portuguese. Learners will learn new vocabulary relating to commonly used verbs and nouns associated with animals. Learners will do a presentation of their favorite animal at the beginning of the following class.Week 9Lesson 9Family MembersLearners will learn about family members in Brazilian Portuguese through different exercises and games facilitated by the teacher. Students will be able to describe the members of their family using the verbs 'ser' and 'chamar'. Learners will draw pictures of their family trees to present at the beginning of the following class.Week 10Lesson 10Brazilian Portuguese FoodLearners will learn how to say different food in Brazilian Portuguese. Learners will also learn about Portuguese food. There will be an activity where all the learners will pretend that they are at a restaurant.Week 11Lesson 11Brazilian Portuguese FoodLearners will learn how to say different food in Brazilian Portuguese. Learners will also learn about Portuguese food. There will be an activity where all the learners will pretend that they are at a restaurant.Week 12Lesson 12𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬 & 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰Students will present their final country projects to one another. There will also be a comprehensive review & reflection of what learners achieved during the past twelve weeks.

Native from Brazil, Caroline Campos has been working as an educator for over fifteen years. Her background in music has allowed her to connect with people around the world, teaching and performing in different countries and working with people from different cultures. She currently teaches remotely in EUA, Africa, Mexico, and Brazil, using English, Spanish, and Portuguese, her native language, as the main communication. Caroline is very proud of her culture, she enjoys teaching her native language and shares her culture by performing Brazilian Popular Music with friends.
