Welcome to *Beginner Ballet for Teens*! This class is perfect for students ages 12-16 who are new to ballet or looking to strengthen their foundational skills. Whether you’re dancing for fun, fitness, or future performance opportunities, this class will help you build confidence and coordination through engaging, beginner-friendly ballet exercises. In each session, we will explore the basic principles of ballet, including posture, balance, and flexibility, all while learning the essential positions, movements, and terminology. Students will start with a gentle warm-up, followed by barre work (using a chair or wall for support), and progress to center exercises that focus on coordination and rhythm. You’ll also get the chance to learn simple combinations and short routines to develop your performance skills. No prior ballet experience is required! Our instructor will provide clear instructions and individual guidance to ensure you feel supported as you grow in your technique. Intro to Ballet Basics 1
Introduction to Ballet - History and etiquette of ballet class.
Basic Posture & Alignment: Introduction to proper posture (standing tall with shoulders back, ribs aligned over hips).
Basic Positions of the Feet: 1st, 2nd,4th, 5th (focus on how to get into these positions).
Plies: Basic demi-plié in 1st and 2nd positions, emphasizing turnout.
Tendu: Introduction to tendu (from 1st and 5th positions), focusing on pointing the toes and stretching the leg.

Lesson 2:
Intro to Ballet Basics 2
Review of Posture and Alignment: Emphasize proper alignment in all exercises.
Barre Work:
Plies in 1st and 2nd positions.
Tendu in 1st and 2nd positions.
Introduction to Glissé (gliding foot along the floor).
Introduction to Port de Bras: Basic arm movements in 1st and 2nd positions.

Lesson 3:
Building on Fundamentals 1
Tendus Review: More focused on lengthening the leg and pointing the toes.
Introduction to Degagé: Faster tendu, raising the foot slightly off the ground.
Introduction to Rond de Jambe: Basic rond de jambe (circle the leg) at the barre, both en dehors and en dedans.
Posture & Alignment Check: Continue to emphasize core engagement and turnout.

Lesson 4:
Building on Fundamentals 2
Review Tendu & Degagé: Focus on precision and smoothness.
More Rond de Jambe: Add the rond de jambe exercise at the barre, working on the coordination of the leg and arm.
Simple Balance: Introduction to balance on one foot, both in parallel and in turnout.
Introduction to First Jump (Petit Jeté): Simple jump with one foot brushing the floor.

Other Details
Parental Guidance
Please be aware that student will need an open workout space, a water bottle if needed, and adequate stretching beforehand. Secondly, please be aware that due to the nature of the ballet technique, it is imperative that students are properly supervised during class time. Students should be feel free to explore movement learned in class but should not perform anything that would put them in physical harm or cause injury.
