Class Experience

Black History Month is such an important month in the United States' history and this class will focus on celebrating through movement!

This class is an introduction to ballet terminology, choreography, creative movement and guided improvisation! Students will learn beginner ballet terms, their meaning, how they are performed, and a combination that develops into a simple dance.

Class Flow
---------------
Attendance and introduction to class flow.

1. Introduction to ballet terminology.
2. Review of ballet terminology with dance moves.
3. Combination of moves. (dance sentence)
4. Mini dance development.
5. Performance!

This is a great class for ages 5 to 10 years old or anyone interested in a One Time class that focuses on the introduction, and/or review ballet dance moves.

*If your child is out of the age limitations I set, or you have special request, reach out to me and share your interests.)

Students will be introduced to the terminology and explained what it means in the ballet genre. They will be asked to repeat the terms for proper articulation and then shown and guided through movement.

Dance Combination Moves:
--------------------------------------------
This portion of the class combines the terminology and the dance moves to create dance sentences. Repetition of the dance moves will help exercise to help their memorization (muscle memory); the major key to developing a dance. We will practice each term 2 to 3 times. (more if necessary).

Learning Goals

Students will learn the ballet dance terms, what they mean in dance and how to perform them. They will engage their muscle memory and explore the connection between creative thoughts, lyrics and movement. They are not expected to be perfect but encouraged to learn and be made aware the "dancey" way.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Ballet has a special place in my heart as it is truly the foundation of all things dance. It took me a few years to understand that, however, when I found it, it made every ballet dance I did more authentic and meaningful. I am grateful for the ability to connect with the beauty of ballet dance and I am very excited to share it this way with you!
