I received my BA in Spanish in December 2016 from Nazareth College of Rochester NY and had the opportunity to study abroad both in Valencia, Spain for 7 months, and Cuzco, Peru for one month. From October 2019-March 2020 I traveled to South America to continue my studies of the Spanish language and I lived on the coast of Ecuador for 3 months in 2021. Although I am not a native Spanish speaker I love speaking Spanish and sharing my love of language with others!
There will be minimal work to do outside of class, however, I highly suggest that families continue to practice the new vocabulary and concepts outside of the classroom. Practicing outside of class will give students the opportunity to relate the class material to their own life and environment which will help cement the language in their brains. Some weeks I will post additional activities for children to do outside of class. These are always optional but highly encouraged!

In this course, students will need minimal supplies. Any worksheets will be posted in the classroom portal before class starts so families have time to print. If you do not have access to a printer at home I can also screen share the worksheet/activity so your child can still easily participate. Information for this class will be presented via a canva presentation which I will screen share with students. I also utilize Nearpod activities. Nearpod presentations will allow your child to access games and activities independently. I am able to view their progress as they complete it on their own device. Instructions on how to use Nearpod can be viewed in the welcome message. No account is required. Depending on how quickly the students go through the material we may have time to do some additional exercises to practice the vocabulary. Please have your student bring a piece of paper and something to draw with to each class. If time allows we will use these materials to continue practicing the new words. They should come prepared to speak Spanish, interact with their classmates, and have fun! If there are any additional supplies I will list them in the classroom section before the class begins.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
3rd party sources used in this class include Nearpod and Canva.

Nearpod allows students to draw on the presentation and demonstrate their knowledge in a nonverbal manner in addition to our speaking activities and exercises. No account is necessary and using Nearpod is optional as I also have the ability to screen share these activities. If your child would like to complete the nearpod activities independently they can access it using the link I will post in the classroom portal. Students will be able to draw and complete activities on a separate device like a tablet or phone. They can submit their work to me so I can gauge their progress and understanding of the class objectives. A PDF with more instructions on how to use this online tool will be sent with the welcome message after enrollment.

Canva is the website I use to create my classroom lesson slides. I will screen share these lesson presentations with students. Unlike Nearpod, students do not have the ability to access this independently.
In this course, I will integrate interactive features in my presentations using nearpod (https://nearpod.com/). This will allow students to draw on the presentation and demonstrate their knowledge in a nonverbal manner in addition to our speaking activities and exercises. No account is necessary.

Before class, I will post a link in the classroom portal that will allow students to access this interactive slideshow. On select slides, students will be able to draw and complete activities. They can submit their work to me so I can gauge their progress and understanding of the class objectives. More instructions on how to use this online tool will be sent with the welcome message after enrollment.

I create my lesson presentations using Canva. I will screen share all Canva presentation slides with students.
