Class Experience

US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 2
Come and join Miss Bruck on an amusing and interactive self-regulation journey! Students will learn all about different emotions and how to identify them based on people's expressions.

Students will be given the chance to express their own feelings and experiences that focus on instances in which they've felt various emotions. Throughout the class, students will learn the benefits of staying positive when dealing with their frustrations or disappointments. Acknowledging that sometimes we all lose our tempers, students will acquire helpful calming strategies and to "Bee Kind and Stay Calm".

The class will be presented as a slideshow with visuals to sustain students' interests and there will be many activities and tasks for students to participate in. Students may be discussing, drawing, interacting with the slides, and gaining guidance and advice throughout the class.

As this is a beginner's class and is geared towards younger students learning about emotions, there is not any required knowledge necessary. Learners will have many opportunities to contribute to discussions and interact with myself and the classroom. I truly believe in the importance of getting to know my students, so I always try my best to cater the lesson style to their learning preferences. My hope for this class is for students to leave feeling more comfortable with emotions in general, and more confident in their abilities to deal with their own feelings and situations.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Self-regulation can be a challenging topic to teach and understand. Due to my degree in which I majored in Psychology, as well as my Bachelors of Education degree that specialized in Advanced Psychology, I feel comfortable discussing emotions with students and am confident in my abilities to help students through stressful or frustrating experiences. Throughout both degrees, I have learned the importance of social and emotional learning and believe it should be a focus in every classroom.
