Class Experience

This is an introductory lesson on drawing students will learn about the elements of art. No previous experience is necessary. I will demonstrate how to draw through live demonstration, explaining techniques and the elements of art. Students will be able to ask questions and then follow along as I give encouraging feedback.

Students will learn…
- Elements of art (value, line, shape, form, texture, space)
- Basic drawing skills using the elements of art.
- Use light, dark, and shadow in drawings.
- Sets of rules to help boost their confidence and mindset.

Materials Required:
- White Drawing Paper or Matte Board in the size 8”x10” or 8.5”x11”
- Extra paper for practice
- Drawing Pencils (You will need H, HB, 2B, 3B, 4B, 5B, & 6B)
- 5 Round items to use to trace circles. Each item should be different size and widths should range from 1” - 3” inches (2.54 - 7.62 cm) wide.
- Eraser
- Sharpener
- Q-tip or Blend Stick smoothing (optional)

In my classes I teach that every student is creative. I emphasize there is no such thing as a mistake as long as you learn from it, and one should only compare themselves to themselves. I teach the importance of taking your time to draw and doing your best. Through discussion, a hands on project, and positive feedback students can gain confidence in themselves and their creativity. At the end of this project, students will have a basic knowledge of the elements of art and hopefully have a new rush of confidence in themselves!

Please let me know if you have any questions. I hope to see your kiddo in my class!

Hello! My name is Miss Becky. Welcome to my studio where students don’t just learn a new art skill or hobby, but grow confident in themselves and their creativity!

PHILOSOPHY:
I strongly believe everyone is creative in some way and I enjoy helping my students to discover that! In my classes, students learn important lessons such as ‘don’t compare yourself to anyone but yourself’. And ‘there is no such thing as a mistake as long as you learn from it’. They learn they can do hard things, give themselves permission to take their time, and most of all - have fun!
