Beginner Level
Students will learn to identify letters, letter sounds, and concept of prints. The lesson will then go into cvc words and sight words. This lesson will help early learners to read. We will be using learning games, PowerPoint presentations, and worksheets. Everything will be supplied by me. I will teach via zoom so that students will have access to the whiteboard to show what they are learning.
Learning Goals
The goal is for students to use their knowledge of the individual sounds oof each letter and blend these letter sounds together, so they are saying the whole word and not three individual sounds.

Introduction to letter sounds
Welcome to the first section of our course! Here, we will focus on letter sounds, also known as phonics. Understanding the sounds that each letter makes is fundamental for reading and writing. Vowels (A, E, I, O, U) can have short sounds and long sounds. Let's practice with a few examples:
Short A: /æ/ as in "apple"
Long A:/eɪ/ as in "cake"
Consonants typically have one common sound, though there are exceptions. Here are some examples:
B: /b/ as in "ball"
D: /d/ as in "dog"
