
Mythology is one of those subjects that inspire students of all ages. It is something that all of us have heard of in one way or another throughout most of our lives. However, the way that we look at mythology as an academic field is not as frequently discussed. In this class, students will be introduced to how Mythology discussed as a field of study and how to understand the basic structure of a myth. This course will be using the story of Arachne and Athena to highlight how Myths are used to explain the natural phenomena surrounding a group This class will be taught through a combination of a lecture on Myth structure and understanding and discussion of the Myth in question. The second half of the course will be dedicated to the class using the knowledge they gained on Mythology to create their own Myth to explain an event that commonly happens in their lives There is no need for prior knowledge of Mythology to enroll in this class any questions are welcomed and encouraged as to help all students gain a better understanding of the subject
Students will gain an understanding of the study of Mythology along with the basic structure of a Myth. In addition, students will gain skills in how to write a MythIt is recommended that students have paper and a writing utensil for notes but is not required
Hello Everyone,
My Name is Ryan Bennett. I am an educator in the fields of anthropology and archaeology with three years of experience in various educational programs. In both fields. some of the topics I am proficient at include Mythology, Scientific Writing, Archaeological Practices, Literature Analysis, and Cultural Studies in Southeast Asia. Additionally, I have training in field archaeology from field school work conducted in Thailand during the summer of 2019.
I have a passion for learning and teaching and it is my hope that throughout any learning experience that I am able to provide that my students have fun and feel as though they have an understanding of the topic.
