London has 2,000 years of history -- Let's break in down into bitesize pieces, and in this one-time class we will start with a focus on London history from 1066-1300. After William the Conqueror invades and wins the Battle of Hastings, he takes stock of what he now owns and writes it all down in the Doomsday Book. A few kings sit on the thrown and take advantage of their power, until the people force one of them to sign the Magna Carta. Many kings travel abroad in a series of Crusades, and we will learn how one got thrown in jail. How much does it cost to free a king? Perfect for students without any background knowledge, geared to make history fun and interesting! In addition to lots of facts, students are encouraged to take notes or make drawings to reinforce learning. During the class, students will be asked to discuss what they have learned and complete a handout with answers. The instructor will teach using discussion, slides, images and an interactive map. Students are encouraged to ask questions along the way.

* Students will identify the reason and events associated with The Crusades
