Intermediate Level
Mastering concepts with fractions is an integral part of being successful in middle school (and beyond) math classes. This course will reinforce skills that have already been taught but need practice. We will work on simplifying fractions, finding the greatest common factor (GCF) and least common denominator (LCD). This is a very straight-forward class, using the "I do, we do, you do" approach. Students will work on the online whiteboards as well as pencil and paper. No calculators will be used.
Learning Goals
Students will master operations with fractions.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello there! My name is Kelli and I live in the Finger Lakes area of New York state. I am a middle school math teacher with over 20 years of experience. I have taught in many different settings: public school, private school, online, and tutoring to individuals and small groups. While math is my specialty, I also enjoy English (reading and grammar) and history. I also hope to teach some other non-academic subjects in the very near future.
I believe every student can learn if given the right guidance. My goal is to make every student feel comfortable in my classroom. I was once a struggling math student, and I remember how that feels. I think that has made me a better teacher. I've had many students tell me that I explain things in a way they can understand, and I take that as a huge compliment.
When I'm not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family. Summer is my favorite season, and I love all that comes with it; swimming, walking by the lake, bonfires, working in the yard and just hanging out outside.
Thanks for reading, and I hope to see you soon in the classroom!
