Students will learn how to play their baroque music in a historically informed style. Examples of baroque violin and viola composers are Bach, Corelli, Vivaldi, Purcell, Telemann, Handel, Locatelli, Lully, and Muffat.
Class experience
In this baroque style coaching learners will play a piece of their music from the baroque and I will help them with the stylistic aspects of their playing. We will go over topics that will include some of the following: - Bowing Style - Up vs Down bow - Articulation of short vs long notes - Releasing notes - Ornamentation - Differences between a baroque and modern violin and bow - Affect and gesture * Learners should have at least 1-2 years of violin/viola lesson experience.
