Dungeons and Dragons is the most popular tabletop roleplaying game in history, played by millions of people of all ages worldwide. Playing it uses theatrical improv, some basic math, creative problem-solving skills, and lots of imagination. To streamline this adventure, I will provide pre-made 5th level characters for the players to choose between, or experienced players can build a character using PHB and Standard Array. We start with choosing characters and going over the basics of play, and then we will begin the story! The game will take place in two 80-minute sessions, with a 20-minute break in between, for a total time of three hours. The locals of Grantham's Green have heard weird voices emanating from the mysterious cave known as Barixis' Lair. Suspecting bandits, they've asked professionals (the players) to investigate. But what they'll find there goes far beyond a simple bandit hideout. Note: No PvP, and no evil characters. Note: Cover photo by Joshua Sortino on Unsplash

Teacher expertise and credentials
I'm offering this class because I love the game of D&D and the effect it's had on my life. I'm an avid player and DM of the game (I play in two games and run five regular campaigns), and I continue to be delighted by what happens once the character sheets and dice come out. My friendships have gotten deeper, I've become a more confident and creative person, and I get to be awesome at least once a week (which is great for self-image).
I've introduced dozens of people to the game through regular beginner one-shots I run bi-weekly at a local game cafe, so I am daunted neither by the complexity of the game nor by off-the-wall questions. I've probably heard it all before.
