Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 7
**This class can be purchased at this discounted rate because I want learners to have an easy opportunity to meet me and experience what a class or club meeting with me is like! I am excited to be involved in Outschool again after some time away, and I am anxious to meet some new children and have them sign up for some of my classes! :-) **

I have always loved reading and I am definitely "bananas" about books! I hope you let me share some of my enthusiasm with your learner!

This is the perfect class to help your child learn about the basic elements that make up a book and a story. Using books as examples that I show the class, I help the children understand key features that are related to books. We discuss why these elements are important, and if time allows, we talk about our favorite books as well!

I am a cheerful, positive, and encouraging teacher. I will not pressure the children to speak in the class, but I will ask many kinds of different and engaging questions to encourage and facilitate discussion by those who want to participate. It is important to me that all of the learners get an equal opportunity to share their thoughts, so I work hard to try to make sure every child has the same amount of time to speak and participate in the discussion.

I have a masters degree in education, a bachelors degree in child development, a TESOL certificate for teaching English, and over 25 years of experience teaching children - including experience as a children's librarian. Book discussions are some of my favorite classes to lead!
